Greg is turning 30!

Yes, sports fans, three decades on Mother Earth. I don't think he wants anyone to make a big deal about it, so I'm left with only one alternative...to make a big deal out of it. Figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and do both parties together. For those of you who know Greg, you know that he's the hardest person in the world to shop for. I've been with him almost nine years and I still have trouble at Christmas. If you are a close friend or relative and you want to get him a present, I figure I'd help you along. Presents, of course, are not necessary, but if you feel the need, at least I can help you figure out what he likes. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call me at home. Raindrops on roses and whiskers on...nevermind. Here are some of Greg's favorite things.

Chess

Greg likes all sorts of chess sets. If you think a book is a good idea, I suggest a gift certificate to The Chess House or the United States Chess Federation. He has so many even I can't remember what he has.
Cooking

Greg just LOVES to cook (lucky for us...). Kitchen gadgets are always great. Neat saucepans, whisks, mixing bowls, you name it! Emeril, Bobby Flay, The Iron Chef, Jamie Oliver...he loves it all!
Star Wars

Star Wars stuff is always nice. Just remember, Greg likes the bad guys (Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Count Dooku). He does love Yoda, but that's probably because he's a small green man. Yuck, yuck, yuck...
Pink Floyd

This is probably the best idea. Greg is short quite a few Pink Floyd CD's. Most of the older ones. While he has them on album, I think he wants to get them on CD. Here's what I know he needs:

Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Saucer Full of Secrets
Ummagumma
Atom Heart Mother
Relics
Obscured by Clouds

Books and Stuff

Greg loves to read. His tastes vary so it's really hard to find stuff that he likes.
Here's a list of authors or subjects he is fond of:

J.R.R. Tolkien
(commentaries, art, etc...)
Norse Mythology
Mead Making (Brewing)
Wine
Cookbooks!
(Oh yes, cookbooks!)

Once again, I suggest gift certificates. We have the
following book and movie stores in our area:

Barnes and Noble
Borders
Waldenbooks
Suncoast Video
Blockbuster Video

I hope this helps you out. Please remember that gifts are not mandatory. I just thought I would try and make his 30th birthday a little special.
